Tips For Buying A Used Car

When you decide to buy a used car the chances of getting duped are very high.
The
greatest disadvantage is that you do not know anything about the
history of the car.
You are not aware if any parts have been replaced
with poor imitations, or have the vehicle a history of being involved in
an accident. Are the papers ok and have the taxes been fully
paid?
These are the usual question for
which we seek answers before buying any used car. It is immaterial
whether you are buying a new car or a used car, the following tips will
help you to protect yourself from being duped by fraudsters.
Step
1- Start with the exteriors and check minutely the paint and external
finish. Look for traces of denting and repainting. Check for any
difference in constituency of the painted surface or a slight difference
in color.
Step 2- Observe of gaps in the
panels. If the gaps are uneven or not of the same breadth, the vehicle
has met with an accident in recent past.
Step
3- Move the doors and panels, bonnet and the rear dickey. Press the car
one by one at its four corners. The body should regain its original
position smoothly without any creaks.
Step 4- Ask for the vehicle identification number and cross check with the registering authority.
Step
5- Check the engine oil. Lightly rub it in between the fingers and see
if the constituency is smooth without any dirt or clogs. Also check the
coolants and the radiators.
Step 6-Check the mileage on the odometer and crosscheck with the documents.
Step
7- Check the accessories like AC, wipers, Bumpers, power windows,
brakes, and other attachments. Step 8- The last check in the
checklist.
Logbooks, driving history, MOT
certification, servicing details and number of tickets and penalties if
any. Also do not forget about the insurance.
These are some of the tips for getting a good used car.
The
tips are not exhaustive and every day we hear about new tricks which
the fraudsters employ. Still it will go a long in preventing yourself
from getting dupes in most circumstances.
