How to Become an Auto Dealer
by Roger Ricafort
Auto dealer sells vehicle, either new or used
cars. The dealer employs salespeople to do the selling. Moreover, they
also hire automobile mechanics because they are also engage in providing
maintenance services for cars.
Dealers also include processing warranty
claims, stock and selling automobile parts.
Moreover,
big amount of money can be attained from the initial sale of a vehicle
and on it's financing. Auto dealership is a kind of business wherein you
can achieve a large amount of income. If you are planning to be an auto
dealer, there steps to consider upon the process. Here are several
guidelines that you need to consider before becoming one of the
successful auto dealers in the market.
First
thing that you have to do is attend the state-mandated auto dealer
certification class. Some states do not require this. However, the class
can be done through online class or in classroom setting. This is a per
hour education requirement and must be completed first before stepping
up to the next guideline. After completion of the course, you can now
take the auto-dealer certification exam. If you have passed the exam,
you can now process the application for auto dealership.
Deciding
the office, the location and the name of the auto dealership is the
second step to be an auto dealer. It is essential that you will know the
right spot for the location of the business and the right name for the
dealership because this will help attract buyers. Moreover, you can now
select the vehicles you need to sell. Buying franchise is not a bad idea
but you must talk to the automaker to know the requirements on
franchising. Talking to them also aids you to ask further upon the
deal.
Third step that you must do is to
obtain a zoning verification letter. This kind of letter is an approval
of the city that the planned location is the right place for auto
dealers. After having the letter, you may get your surety bond. Surety
bond is not less than $10,000. It is given to honor all applicable fees
that are associated with the dealership.
You
can get the business license after you had given the surety bond.
Business license depends on the state that you will put up your
business. The required forms are posted on Department of Motor Vehicles
(DMV) websites. After this, you must display license and applicable
forms on the shop. In addition, putting up telephone lines and computers
is necessary too. Make sure that the lines are working before DMV
inspects the business firm.
