Buying A Raleigh Car Can Be This Easy...
by Rick Charles
Congratulations! You have just decided to take
the plunge and purchase an automobile in the Raleigh area. There is
nothing like buying a new car (even if it is only new to you). With some
preventative maintenance on your part it will be a purchase that will
be treasured for years to come.
Just what is the best way to purchase
your new car? This is what this article is all about. We would like to
provide you with some suggestions to consider before you actually sign
the documents.
The first thing you need
to consider is, do you need a car? After a house, an automobile is often
the very most important thing someone will lay money down for in their
lifetime. You will need to weigh the need and love of purchasing a car
with the practicality of paying for and maintaining it.
a car? Don't think that by filling out the documentation and driving
the car off the lot you are free as a bird. There are a number of facts
that you will need to take into consideration before you can truly say
that you can afford a car. Some of these things are: insurance,
maintenance and repairs, gas or fuel, parking, and licensing and
registration.
What model and make of
automobile do you want? This may require a bit of homework, but the
internet is full of info about cars and models and makes and such. Your
public library is also full of free information on this subject. How
about asking your friends for their input?
Where
to purchase the automobile? You should have many options in this
particular category. There are used car dealerships, new car
dealerships, rental companies, superstores, or individual car
owners.
Make sure that you inspect the
car. This is an extremely vital component in the whole process. You want
to ensure that you know what you are paying for...both the good and the
very bad. Just because the automobile has a nice new paint job doesn't
mean that there are not problems lurking just under the hood.
Now set up a time to meet with the individual
who is selling the automobile. Be sure to get as much preliminary info
as you can in order to be prepared when you arrive at their location to
seal the deal. Just why are they selling the auto? How many miles are on
the car? Do they happen to have all the maintenance records?
Inspect
the driveway. Do you see any signs of spillage or leaks? It is a lot
harder to conceal auto issues if you take a look at the ground that it
is stationed on.
Take the car out for a
drive. If you hear any unusual noises be sure to inquire about them. Run
all the electrical devices such as the air conditioner, radio,
windshield wipers, etc.
Get
a vehicle history report. This will tell you the most recent official
odometer reading and exactly who owned the automobile. This report will
also tell you if the vehicle was flooded or in an auto accident.
Come up with an
approximate value of the vehicle. Make sure to keep in mind that the
seller is probably going to want even more money than the vehicle is
actually worth. Keep in mind that the Kelley Blue Book is a great place
to find a dollar value that you can utilize as a beginning point for
your negotiations.
Negotiate a dollar
amount for the vehicle. Show the seller the background research you have
established as why you think the car is worth the amount you are
offering. You might choose to bring a friend along to help you come up
with a non-emotional price.
Go ahead and
purchase the vehicle. Be sure that you get the sale of the auto in
writing. Double check to be sure that this document includes everything
that is being sold, and the actual terms of the sale. Under no
circumstances should you purchase the car or come up with any cash
without having the title of the automobile signed over to you. This is
the document that shows you actually own the automobile.
That
is it...some simple ideas to purchasing a new car. If you do a bit of
research by you there is really no reason that you cannot come out of
the process a happy new vehicle owner. Happy motoring!
